About the Author
I have been a band and orchestra director for over two decades, working with Kansas students in the Wichita and surrounding area. I have the typical Masters of Music Education Degree from my hometown, Wichita State University. I fancy myself the crazy director, well my husband and I are both trumpet players...enough said. I'm definitely type-A personality and like to be highly efficient and organized but there is also a creative and fun side. I could list all of the students' achievements throughout the years, 1-ratings & trophies, but I feel that I am just the educational vehicle and those are their achievements. I've been super fortunate to have great students and families some of whom I now call friends. I've been blessed to work with many great colleagues, mentors and student teachers throughout my tenure, all of whom have shaped me into the teacher I am today.
I spent the past year working for the local music store as a road rep and adjudicating festivals around the area. I am getting ready to embark on a new experience, teaching K-4 general music. I'm looking forward to the change and the challenge.
My husband was also a Kansas band director for many years. Both of us are living the semi-retired life. We like to travel as often as possible and work from the road. From the seashore to the mountains and everything in between, we try to explore and live like the locals wherever we are. I have a step-daughter, step son-in-law and a grandson. Needless to say, we stay busy "in the off season" whatever that is!
